Declaration of Rights of People Affected by TB

In May 2019, the historic Declaration of the Rights of People Affected by TB was launched by TBpeople alongside the three civil society delegations (Communities, Developing Country NGO and Developed Country) to the Board of the Global Fund. The launch in Geneva was attended by TB survivors, legal experts, global health leaders, and Global Fund Board Members.

The Declaration is a call from TB affected communities to identify and overcome barriers to universal access to quality TB services. The Declaration aims at empowering people affected by TB, is grounded in international law, and built upon States’ existing obligations under various treaties. The Declaration offers guidance from people affected by TB on the relationship between TB and the right to life and to health, and through this, the importance of ensuring access to quality TB services.
