What is the PPM Core Group?

The PPM Core Group guides and steers the operation of the PPM Working Group. It consists of individuals with expertise in multiple disciplines from different constituencies, stakeholders, and institutions involved in scaling up PPM efforts. The core group members include representation from high TB burden countries, PPM implementers, technical partners, scientific and academic institutions, funding agencies and civil society.

The term of membership in the Core Group is two years, with the opportunity for renewal for a second consecutive term of two years. Membership to the core group is by nomination, selection and invitation by the current core group leadership and secretariat.

What is the role of the PPM Core Group?

The role of the PPM core group is:

  • To oversee and steer the work of the Working Group
  • To advise the secretariat in developing PPM strategic framework and work plans
  • To actively contribute to the collaborative implementation of selected PPM strategic priorities for 2024-2025
  • To share relevant technical experience and needs from respective constituencies in the implementation of PPM strategic priorities
  • To set the agenda and assist in the organization of Working Group meetings
  • Attend monthly teleconferences, and face-to-face meetings (typically 1 per year, depending on funding)
  • To support the Secretariat in coordinating and monitoring PPM activities and progress

 

Selection of PPM Core Group members

The selection of Core Group members is based on consideration of expertise and experience, and membership balanced by gender, region, and the following constituencies. The core group comprises of 25-30 members and represents stakeholders from:

  • National TB Programmes of high burden countries
  • Implementers and experts working on private provider engagement in TB and health programmes beyond TB.
  • Technical and donor partners including NGOs, corporate sector and professional associations
  • Representatives from other relevant Stop TB Working Groups
  • Academic/Research institutions
  • TB survivors/community/civil society representatives
