ETTi - TB and Airborne Workshops & Webinars

ETTi Airborne IPC Workshop, The Union World Conference on lung health in Bali, November 14, 2024

ETTi workshop "Airborne IPC in focus: implementation of feasible measures for eliminating TB transmission risk and staying prepared for the next pandemic" in frame of annual World Conference on Lung Health in Bali, Indonesia, 2024. There was controversy around how SARS-CoV-2 virus was transmitted, but M. tuberculosis has been long known to be almost exclusively airborne. While quantitative studies of outbreaks and experimental transmission models have revealed much about the dynamics of TB transmission - and how to prevent it - much remains to be understood. For example, the contribution of asymptomatic cases is a current source of controversy, as is exactly how soon treatment stops transmission. The efficacy of masks, respirators, and germicidal UV - hot topics during Covid-19, remain topics of interest for airborne TB precautions
