Ambassador Stéphanie Seydoux will represent France and Dr. Farhana Amanullah will represent the Implementation Working Groups
2 July 2019 I Geneva, Switzerland – French Ambassador for Global Health, Ms. Stéphanie Seydoux, representing France and Dr. Farhana Amanullah representing the Implementation Working Groups will join as new members of the Stop TB Partnership Board, serving their terms effective immediately for three years.
The Stop TB Board has the responsibility of building awareness about the TB situation at the highest political level, identifying critical barriers to achieving the United Nations High-Level Meeting (UNHLM) on TB and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets, and facilitating consensus and alignment on strategy and policy making. It also oversees the effective implementation of the Stop TB Partnership’s Operational Strategy and the five year Global Plan to End TB.
Ambassador Seydoux will be representing the Government of France on the Board of the Stop TB Partnership. A former diplomat, Stéphanie Seydoux has extensive experience in international development and social and welfare policies. Before her appointment as Ambassador for Global Health, Ms. Seydoux acted as Head of the French Department for Women’s rights and Gender Equality. A long-serving French civil servant, she was previously involved in other areas of equality policies as head of the Departement for Equality promotion of the French Equality commission and Deputy Head of the French Inspectorate General for Social Affairs.
Dr. Amanullah is the Director of the Pediatric TB Program at the Karachi Indus Hospital, one of the largest private child TB reporting centers in the region. A certified Pediatrician and Pediatric Nephrologist trained at the Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Amanlullah served as a child TB expert and provided Technical Assistance in Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, Thailand, and Afghanistan. She will represent the Implementation Working Groups on the Board. The six Implementation Working Groups consist of the Child and Adolescent TB Working Group, Public-Private Mix Working Group, Global Laboratory Initiative (GLI) Working Group, Global Drug-Resistant TB Initiative (GDI) Working Group, Drug-resistant TB Scale-up Treatment Action Team (DR-TB STAT) and the End TB Transmission Initiative (ETTI) Working Group.
The Stop TB Partnership’s 32nd Board Meeting will be held in December 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
