A year on from the second UNHLM on TB it is time to increase advocacy efforts and demand the political will and financing required to end TB. Stop TB Partnership’s Challenge Facility for Civil Society Round 13 aims to support local organisations and people affected by TB to reduce access barriers to quality TB care and support services to end TB by 2030. This will be achieved by securing political will, reducing the TB financing gap, increasing demand for new tools and approaches, enhancing ambition and accountability, strengthening efforts to end TB stigma.
“Stop TB Partnership is enormously supporting the grassroots movement needed to end TB. With the package of support provided by the Challenge Facility for Civil Society we are equipped to amplify our voices in demanding access to the best drugs and other community priorities. While much more is needed, there is a strong sense of hope that with USAID and L ’Initiative implemented by Expertise France support, more and more countries including those in Francophone Africa can be included. With this inclusivity and shared sense of responsibility I am sure we can reach our targets and end TB by 2030. But we need more support and so I call on other donors to contribute to this mechanism that supports TB communities like no other”, said Maxime Lunga, STP Board Member, TB Affected Communities.
“Challenge Facility for Civil Society is the only platform we have to support and strengthen grassroots organizations in High Burden TB Countries. CFCS was a dream that became a reality. Today we can now count hundreds of organizations that are tirelessly building a stronger and more appropriate TB response", said Dr. Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership.
