Stop TB Partnership

A Suggestion and a New Life

By Bharat Bahadur Khadaka - Multi-Dimensional Resource Centre (Nepal)

Mr. Akkal Bahadur Gole is resident of Kalikhola, in Nepal and belongs to an ethnic minority that has traditionally been under serviced. His life changed dramatically last year after his wife and three children left. He became a heavy drinker and eventually a TB victim.

MRC Nepal had recently formed a STOP TB group in Mr. Gole's village. Thankfully, one of the group members, Chandra Kumari Yonjan, recognized Mr. Gole's persistent cough as something more serious and suggested he visit the hospital. "Just one week before when I went to the hospital for the check up of my serious illness since last three weeks found active TB" said 45 year old Mr. Gole.

Mr Gole expressed his sincere thanks to MRC Nepal for the suggestion to visit the hospital. He feels as though he has been given a new life. He also added that he is committed to following his medication regime and has begun to abstain from alcohol.
