Organization Description:
1.AYSO’s Mission is to support the communities to make right and ethical choices over their lifetimes by providing them with social, educational, developmental and health care services at the national and international levels. And its Vision is Healthy life, developed and social tranquility for all (especially youths), without any discrimination on religion, ethnicity, and gender.
2. Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease transmitted through air droplets. The disease still remains a leading cause of mortality in some countries including my country, Afghanistan. Therefore, TB has been a prioritized public health problem. Following the strategies of the World Health Organization (WHO), National tuberculosis program (NTP) has led the TB control activities to fight against this preventable and manageable communicable disease across the country.
AYSO currently is involved the implementation of many health (BPHS, CDC), educational, nutrition projects in some Provinces of Afghanistan and willing to contribute in the fight against this preventable and manageable communicable disease across the country with close collaboration with WHO, ANTP (Afghanistan National TB Control Program).
3. To respond to the TB challenges in Afghanistan through the innovative approaches and strengthening the health systems. In order to achieve it, AYSO will focus on TB challenges in Afghanistan which are in line with the Afghanistan NTP and the interventions will be aligned with the national TB strategy for improving quality TB care.

AYSO’s aims to fight against TB, this preventable and manageable communicable disease across the country by improving TB case finding in the community to get early and prompt diagnosis and treatment, providing community awareness and strengthening referral system so that communities have easy access to TB services delivery.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
AYSO implementing BPHS projects in deferent Provinces of Afghanistan with partnership of national and international organizations, since July 2015, therefore AYSO has gained the experience of implementing communicable disease including TB control programs
The specific areas of expertise of AYSO in delivering quality TB services are:
AYSO has a strong and qualified management team. AYSO’s management team members are fully equipped with knowledge and experiences of implementing TB control programs in Afghanistan.
AYSO currently is overall responsible for the implementation of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) component of the BPHS (SEHAT-III) projects in 3 provinces of Afghanistan.
AYSO through implementation of BPHS projects has gained the experiences of:
1) Establishing sputum collection and sending system in BHCs and SHCs.
2) Training health workers and CHWs on DOTs protocol.
3) Implementing DOTs at the HFs and community level.
4) Supplying the HFs with anti TB drugs.
5) Providing therapeutic food aids to TB patients with supports of WFP and.
6) Conducting IEC/BCC sessions at the community level (by CHWs) on stigma reduction and curability of TB patients.
