Organization Description:
Kasalika Community Development Organization (KACOD) is a nongovernmental, non-political, charitable organization which was established in June, 2004. Kasalika Community Development Organization is registered with the government of Malawi under the Trustees Incorporation Act 1984 Cap 5:03 of the laws of Malawi in August 2012 and CONGOMA in June 2014 and with NGO Board in April 2015. Our Mission Statement is Committed to ensure the participation of communities in all aspects of development planning and practice by strengthening economic capacity, engendering governance and leadership and upholding children, youth, men and women’s human dignity.as an organization we are interested in TB programs as we also tackle HIV programs and we feel these go together. Currently we are fund raising for TB control programs and continue advocating for TB in country support.

We advocate on issues that affect TB affected patients and engage the authorities to initiate a solution towards TB programming in the country. We also fund raise for programs which are not adequately supported by the government.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
We advocate on issues that affect TB patients and provide the patients with adequate information on how they can stop TB and avoid the spread of the TB. We also provide capacity building to survivors of TB and other CSOs and provide social mobilization.

TB-HIV:
Since TB and HIV are mostly related as we provide the care to TB patients we also take care of those affected by the HIV pandemic as most of our clients are HIV affected. We provide capacity building, Information sharing and advocate on issues that affect TB and HIV related clients in our impact areas.

New Diagnostics:
We do provide information to those that may need it and refer those clients who have the symptoms of TB so that they should be screened at any health facility for them to know if they have got any infections of TB.

Research:
As an organization that implement some programs we work in partnership with other research institutions to get some data and new statistics that will help some organizations as they want to venture into TB programming.
