Organization Description: |
OUR FOCUS Centre Stage Media Arts Foundation (CSMA) is a community based HIV/AIDS and human rights advocacy group that supports TB patients in under-resourced urban communities of the city of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. Our target constituency are key populations, namely, sex workers, HIV serodiscordant couples, MSM and transgender women who are HIV positive and also positively living with HIV.
MISSION Through a human-rights centred approach to development that employs facilitated engagements, broad policy and human rights advocacy and practical implementation of patient support programmes at public health centres, CSMA seeks to ensure that every patient has access to proper diagnosis, treatment and care.
WHY WE ARE INTERESTED IN TB AND WHAT WE ARE DOING TO CONTROL TB Communities that we serve are under-resourced and inhabited by low-income earners. Most people in these communities live in overcrowded conditions. Further, communities that we serve are disproportionately affected by HIV and Aids, worsening the Tuberculosis burden.
Noting the aforementioned challenges, we noted that communities that we serve have limited knowledge on TB, challenges in seeking medical attention for initial diagnosis and adhering to treatment once diagnosed. CSMA therefore provides community education on TB and supports TB patients adhere to treatment. Again, we collate community and TB patients voices and amplify them at policy advocacy platforms.
