Organization Description: |
We envision communities empowered to live healthy and prosperous lives, free from preventable diseases and other health risks. Our mission is to promote and improve the well-being of people in rural and hard-to-reach areas through advocacy, health education, creation of self-sufficiency, and linkage to quality health and social services with overall community participation and involvement.
Our interest in tuberculosis stems from the fact that we serve to most disadvantaged population of rural and hard to reach areas. These populations experience high inadequacies and inequity in health services delivery. There is also a tendance of poor health services seeking behavior among the populations and conditions like Tuberculosis are diagnosed late, misdiagnosed and some time un-diagnosed at all. Through our public health education activities we have tried to raise awareness but there is need for collaborations from community to international level in order to share learnings and strengthen efforts to Zero TB in communities.
We plan to continue creating awareness about the impact of TB, coordinating and linking clients to screenings, treatment and care centres. We would also want to participate in policy formulations and track implementation of different policies and guidelines both in communities, facilities and regional levels. |
