YODEP Mission YODEP exist to create an environment where children and young people are in Malawi are live to their full potential through livelihood interventions,SRH initiatives, skills building education, health, human rights, and humanitarian support. YODEP main focus areas:. EDUCATION Strategic Goal: To create a conducive environment for children and young people to access quality education.
Programme Activities • Establishment of Early Childhood Care and Development Centres (ECD) • Nutrition Support to Children at ECCD Centres • Advocate for access to education for children with disabilities • Training of caregivers • Strengthen the capacity of ECD Centres • Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) • Bursary Scheme to needy Secondary school students • Provision of school supplies to needy students at primary and secondary school • Construction of ECCD Centres • Advocacy on early marriages • Awareness creation of importance of education • Advocacy on cultural practices • Go back to school campaign • Monitoring school attendance
2. LIVELIHOOD SECURITY Strategic Goal: To improve food self-sufficiency and income levels among poor households.
Programme Activities • Integrated/mixed farming ( Livestock, poultry farming) • Small scale irrigation • Provision of farm inputs e.g. seed • Permaculture • Nutrition education • Processing and utilization • Promotion of high value crops • Small scale business • Linking farmers to markets (agro processing) • Village Savings and Loan Schemes • Running vocational Skills training programmes • ICT training • Entrepreneurship Skills • Business management skills
3. HEALTH Strategic Goal: To ensure healthy wellbeing among children, youth and poor urban and rural households.

YODEP is a an Executive member of National TB Civil Society Collision Steering Committee in Malawi. YODEP is a member of Malawi AIDS Network Service(MANASO) YODEP is implementing various HIV/AIDS programs in the community and it has 2 support groups of people living with HIV/AIDS and some of the support groups members are TB survivors. YODEP conduct awareness on TB/ HIV/AIDS awareness in the country. Through the National steering committee YODEP is contributing to Malawi TB strategic plan and the Malawi National TB Policy. |
