Organization Description: |
1. Medical IMPACT is a non-profit non governmental organization with no political or religious affiliation that seeks to empower the ideas and actions of agents of change through direct field support, disaster management and implementation of specialized medical interventions in indigenous communities, extreme marginalization and difficult access, promoting teamwork in disaster or low- resource settings, providing medical supplies, establishing prevention campaigns and the highest available standards of medical care to people in greatest need, in the hands of healthcare professionals.
Mission: Impact marginalized, forgotten and/or unhedged populations, through integral healthcare and welfare-oriented humanitarian approach.
2. As part of our current activities, we deploy selective prevention campaigns to indigenous populations and migrant population, as well as providing medical counseling in remote areas and low resource settings to TB patients and family members on the field. We also, as part of the Americas TB Coalition, advocate to Civil Society members and organizations, as well as, involvement with the industry and academia to boost our efforts on eliminating TB.
3. We are signing an agreement with the Mexican Ministry of Health and COFEPRIS, the National Regulatory Agency on the 23th of November, 2018 to work together for a 5 year strategic plan lead by Medical IMPACT to reach to the most remote indigenous communities in the country and prevent, educate and detect tuberculosis as well as provide medication and supplies when needed. Medical IMPACT Mexico also presented its position and current TB situation to the Mexican Senate in order to seek political commitment.

Medical IMPACT Sierra Leone is deploying specialized prevention and awareness campaigns, as well as advocating to international stakeholders, potential parters and organizations to increase efforts and join the outreach.

Medical IMPACT also participated in the Interactive Hearing for the United Nations High Level Meeting on the Fight to End TB, as well as the UNHLM and several side events to seek for further collaboration and enhance multistakeholder participation on the fight to end TB. |

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: Medical IMPACT provides medical assistance and specialized prevention campaigns on the field in extremely marginalized and/or difficult access communities in multiple countries with special aim on Tuberculosis in Mexico, Guatemala and Sierra Leone as well as political advocacy and social mobilization.
Drug-Resistant TB: Medical IMPACT urges policy and decision makers to take further action to fight against Antibiotic Resistance with special aim in TB. We plan to increase action of Drug Resistant TB campaigns and funding in 2019.
TB-HIV: Medical IMPACT provides medical assistance and specialized prevention campaigns on the field in extremely marginalized and/or difficult access communities in multiple countries with special aim on Tuberculosis in Mexico, Guatemala and Sierra Leone as well as political advocacy and social mobilization.
In November 2018, MI signed an agreement with the Federal Commissioner of COFEPRIS, the National Regulatory Agency and the Ministry of Health in Mexico to join forces in a 5 year program to provide specialized prevention campaings to the difficult access indigenous communities of Chiapas, Quintana Roo and Oaxaca.
Furthermore, Medical IMPACT Sierra Leona constantly aims to provide awareness to communities in need and educate the patients and families of TB patients. The current country manager of MISL is a TB Survivor and has vast experience on the matter to make TB the organizations first priority in 2019.
New Diagnostics: We are currently seeking for advice, partnerships and funding to make usage of new and innovative diagnostic tools on the field that allow for easier access to key diagnostic and decision making information.
Research: We are currently seeking for advice, partnerships and funding to gather, implement strategies and publish scientific studies in key affected communities that the organization has access to. |
