| SureAdhere's mission is to provide health officials, health care providers and researchers globally with a proven, cost effective, and simple yet powerful mobile method of monitoring medication adherence when compliance is crucial. To this end, SureAdhere has developed a secure mobile platform to provide video observed therapy (VOT) capabilities to TB control programs around the globe. VOT provides all the advantages of in-person directly observed therapy, while eliminating many of its barriers. The patient simply uses the SureAdhere app on a smartphone to record a short video of each medication dose ingested. The video is then uploaded to a secure server, and a healthcare provider confirms medication ingestion using SureAdhere’s provider web platform. Our company is working to make VOT available to TB care providers worldwide to stem the epidemic of drug resistant TB, prevent TB transmission and save lives. | |

| SureAdhere is a fully automated system for health care providers to remotely observe and document every dose of medication taken by their patients; when adherence slips, providers know when to step in and support the patients in their care. Data captured by our platform can also be a powerful tool when counseling patients about their adherence. On average, the SureAdhere platform reduces DOT costs by over 70%. The benefits are equally compelling for patients, who can take their medications when and where it best suits them, meaning greater patient comfort, greater privacy, improved adherence, and fewer unobserved doses throughout treatment. | |

TB Care Delivery: SureAdhere currently provides VOT services to local, regional and national health departments around the United States, and continues to expand both domestically and internationally. We are also serving a number of TB care providers and academic researchers in Vietnam, Uganda, Mexico and the United Kingdom. VOT is poised to become an accepted worldwide standard of care for medication adherence for a number of conditions. Domestic and international health agencies (e.g., the CDC, WHO, Global Fund, etc.) are enthusiastic about the potential for VOT to be a game changing technology for TB treatment monitoring worldwide. Research: SureAdhere’s roots date back to 2009, when co-founder Dr. Richard Garfein and his team at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) developed a novel smartphone application and demonstrated proof-of-concept for using asynchronous video observed therapy (VOT) as an alternative to resource-intensive in-person DOT for monitoring medication adherence among patient treated for tuberculosis (TB) through health departments in San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico. VOT has subsequently been evaluated across the U.S., Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. SureAdhere has also committed to providing our platform at a vastly reduced cost to programs looking to pilot test VOT in their patient populations around the world. In addition to our current international partners, SureAdhere has a number of possible TB Reach partners looking to pilot our platform in 2018 in India, the Philippines, South Africa, Bhutan, Myanmar, Swaziland, and Guatemala. |
