Organization Description:
1. SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA is committed to reducing income and non-income poverty, hunger, human suffering, diseases and the impact and spread of HIV/AIDS by empowering marginalized and vulnerable people, most at risk populations, and communities in general to achieve community based and sustainable human development.

2. SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA is interested in Tuberculosis as an institution/ civil society organization in order to combat Tuberculosis awareness to the community, in terms of control prevention, screening and testing. However TB is among of the leading killing diseases in the country.therefore as the local organization understands well the burdens of TB to our community. it is that context that we fully take that role/ involvement as part of responsibility and accountability to our people for the better tomorrow national health and development.

3. SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA is planning on building effective and sustainable capacities to utilize, coordinate, collaborate and leverage community and clinical efforts
and resources to improve TB case detection, linkage and treatment in Kahama, Shinyanga.

SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA contributes to national TB control in terms of community sensitization and mobilization, screening and testing as well as linkage for treatments to the general population and the most key vulnerable population e.g FSW, MSM, AGYW, small miners etc. we much concentrate on the Key Vulnerable Population because we strongly believe such group categories are highly exposed to risks of contracting the infections easily with no help.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:

SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA contributes fully in terms of community TB care approaches,in terms of sensitization and mobilization, prevention and control measures, screening and testing, community referral linkages for treatments of TB/HIV. This are conducted outside the promises of formal health facilities in communities and community based structure. And this is coordinated by a well skilled staffs of the organization in collaborations with the District Medical officers as well as District TB coordinators for proper implementation. However the organization is extremely centered/ engaged to the community and this ea zen in terms of finding issue affecting their well beings.

TB-HIV:

SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA contributes to TB/HIV awareness, prevention and control measures to the general population and key populations, and this is because we concentrate on the key vulnerable population because we believe such diseases tends to concentrates in poor and marginalized communities who face many barriers to access health service due to lack of awareness, therefore in order to reach our goals in this perspective we involve the following parameters;

a). Community active TB case finding/ HIV.
b). Sputum fixing Microscope/ GeneXpert/ X-ray
c). Tracking to the confirmed positive clients of TB/HIV,loss follow up tracing.
d). Health education and counseling
e). Infection, prevention and control measures

Fundamental Research:

SHDEPHA+ KAHAMA in this current project funded by the TB REACH WAVE 5 its nature its a kind of fundamental research parcel therefore at the end of this project (2 years funded project)
we would like to publish the findings addressing the success/ positive impact to the community, challenges and the way forward strategies for better health of the community. However we will seek for an authorization from the TB REACH WAVE 5.
