As empowered by the local law of the Philippines (RA 10767:Comprehensive TB Elimination Plan Act), the DLS UMC created a sub unit from the Infection Prevention and Control Office (IPCO), named TB Core Team to take care of TB-related concerns in the hospital. With the increasing number of patients diagnosed with presumptive and/ or confirmed with Tuberculosis, the TB Core Team would implements the TB Referral System that was a product of several consultative meetings with concerned departments. This referral system aims to catch all cases of presumptive and/or confirmed TB patients that are admitted in our hospital. This cases will then be reported to the next higher institution (Department of Health) also as part of our surveillance and/or to the peripheral TB-DOTS facility as referral for identification of TB status, through our TB lab (with DSSM and Gene-Xpert), for enrollment and ultimately for treatment. That way, we have a holistic approach in combating and eliminating the disease. |
