Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) a social enterprise established in 1991 endeavor to upgrade the access to healthcare services. Greenstar, with technical assistance from PSI, has successfully implemented multi-million dollar contracts with the Global Fund, USAID, KfW, UNFPA, DFID, LAD, private foundations and other international NGOs and is striving to increase choices and access to quality healthcare services through distribution network of over 7,000 franchised clinics & 70,000 retail outlets.. Tuberculosis control is key focused area of GSM portfolio. To address this daunting public health challenge of Tuberculosis epidemic as Pakistan being fifth amongst TB high-burden countries worldwide, accounting 61% of the TB burden in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, GSM is working with the National TB control program Pakistan. Active case finding through community mobilization and passive through GP network are the intervention zones. GSM is planning to extend its role in private sector through expansion of healthcare providers network practicing within the communities |

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan: |
• Working with private sector health care providers through PPM (Public Private Mix) TB interventions involving community based General practitioners under the National TB Control Program. • Collaborating with National TB Control Program since 2005 through Global Fund grants • Detected/registered and treated 90,000+ TB patients with treatment success rate of 91%. • Successfully implemented GFATM Round 3, Round 8, Round 9 projects under Global Fund Grants • Since inception trained around 15,000 health care providers on National TB Guidelines (DOTS Strategy). • Round 8 grant was implemented in the capacity of PR at national level for 5 years duration and closed with ‘A’ ranking rewarded by the Global Fund. • Development of TB Drug Management Information System (DMIS) and Ware House Management Information System (WMS) for National TB Control Program (NTP). • Collaborating network of 1200+ providers in the current grant treating TB patients and 120+ collaborating laboratories for TB case detection and management • In the current NFM Grant, GSM is working as Sub recipient (SR) to NTP in 13 highly populated cities of Pakistan; Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Rawalpindi and Peshawer. Greenstar has completed year-1 of the grant with significant performance and meeting the commitments. • Urban TB DOTS, Childhood TB, Contact Tracing (Operational Research) and TB presumptive cases referral from pharmacies are the key ongoing interventions under GSM TB project |

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: Greenstar is striving for TB control since last 10 years and have diagnosed and registered 90,000+ TB patients and is committed to align its efforts in line with Global Plan of reaching 90% of all people with TB and place all of them on appropriate therapy — first-line, second-line and preventive therapy as required Community involvement initiatives like community gathering meetings and chest camps in key affected population have been focused interventions of Greenstar. In the last 4 quarters, Greenstar reached key effected population through organizing more than 2500 community involvement events. This approach is an effort to reach at least the most vulnerable, underserved, at-risk populations From past 10 years, Greenstar with its strenuous field operations is able to maintain treatment success rate of more than 90 % for all people diagnosed with TB through affordable treatment services and adherence to complete & correct treatment. |
