Organizational Background and Experience Shintsha Health Initiative (SHINE) is a membership based organization which it is non-political, non-discriminatory and non-profit making organization registered from the social development as NPO and also registered at SARS and public Benefit Organization (PBO).SHINE was established on 2011 and registered in 2012 as an NPO, and it was established by people living openly with HIV/AIDS in the of taking a lead in HIV prevention, to fight stigma and discrimination and to promote positive living. Vision To be the pre-eminent organization that eradicates stigma and discrimination to build a HIV/TB free generation. Mission • To do awareness on HIV/AIDS and TB prevention. • To strengthen the inter-sectoral partnership with relevant partners. • To create a conducive environment for all people living with HIV/AIDS. • To consolidate and advance the rights of People living with HIV/AIDS. • To implement adherence as prevention measure and to promote HIV counseling and testing.
SHINE Structure and Strategy SHINE structure is made of Executive committee, founding council, technical team (Director and other senior managers) and the Advisory board. If the all these structures are combined together they form the board of directors, shine have the sectors which are part of the executive committee and also form part of all SHINE structure and those sectors are People living with HIV (PLWHIV),women’s sector and men’s sector their responsibilities are to ensure that the organization is implementing the services reaching all the corners of the community with an understanding of the Grey areas (gaps) that needs attention in terms of HIV prevention and quality health care services for all.
Youth and LGBTI’s are part of all our programmes as they are the one who’s more vulnerable when it comes to health care services. We also have our volunteer’s structures/groups in the community called branches where a group of 10 to 15 community members regardless of their HIV status joining |

We are contributing by educating the community about TB and to ensure that people from the rural and deep rural areas are screened for TB and they have been referred to the nearest hospital and the nearest clinic.
we also do awarenesses,trainings and workshops targeting different sectors/groups of the community.we area also collaborating with other partners to advocate for the better treatment and quality health care for TB patients and prevention. |
