| SAMA to be a powerful regional voice linking national associations to address the political, socio-economic welfare of ex-miners and their families Mission and Guiding Principles. • Governance and Capacity Building • Advocacy, Networking And Resource Mobilization • Health: (occupational (TB) and social exposure disease (HIV) and Education • IGAs – Livelihoods projects and Food Security • Democracy and Human Rights • Women and Children • Labour (Social Benefits and Compensation), Economic, mining and Commerce • Research (establishment of a database) ? To establish wealth among Southern Africa national active and former miners associations through social reinsertion and job creation after retrenchment ? To provide capacity building to national active and former miners associations, to encourage self employment and mobilize funds for project promotion of the communities development ? To create database for research, communication and documentation of ex-miners, widows and orphan children ? To advocate and lobby for full participation and decision making in regional and international mineworkers organizations, including International Labor Organization ? To provide technical support to national miners associations to work on occupational health and miners’ professional diseases ? To strengthen alliance and partnerships, unity and solidarity with relevant bodies and agencies working on HIV and AIDS nationally, regionally and internationally ? To advocate to African Governments to protect the basic human rights of all former miners, including the right to occupational health care and insurance cover for death |

TB Care Delivery: TB screening, referrals and follow up. This is include health education and prevention Drug-Resistant TB: Adherence education on treatment management in ensuring that the patients managed their own health and treatment TB-HIV: Know your status campaign through HIV testing together with TB screening. Once found with HIV refer for treatment initiation same applies with TB New TB Drugs: Identify patients to join the new drugs research and ensure that their rights are not compromised New TB Vaccines: Identify patients to join the new drugs research and ensure that their rights are not compromised Fundamental Research: Facilitate recognition of patients involvement into research for participation and ownership.
