Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
VFDN intends to reach the unreached 10,000 active TB cases by working together with community people, health workers and young students. For this purpose, DOTS expansion and enhancement is necessary mostly in rural and hard to reach communities.

Drug-Resistant TB:
MDR TB is mainly the result of -
1. Lack of awareness about the disease, about treatment regime and about the availability of services
2. Lack of service providers for counseling, treatment and referral of cases
3. Availability of TB drugs without stock out at the grassroots level
4. Lack of follow up and monitoring
5. Lack of community and family engagement in treating the TB patients i.e. lack of proper consultation and lack of frequent communication with family members of PLWD.

VFDN intends to carryout the activities to address the above mentioned issues at the community level, so that there will be no MDR TB cases in the community.

TB-HIV:
It should be focused screening in both areas i.e TB should be tested among HIV cases and HIV should be tested in TB cases. Thus both part should be addressed jointly.

Research:
Operational research should be continued to reach the unreached active TB cases in densely populated and poor communities, urban slum areas.
