Organization Description:
Bodhi Seeds – Seeds of Enlightenment was founded by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche to help with the many needs of monastic and lay community in the Himalayan Regions of India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet.

Bodhi Seeds supports monasteries and lay communities with medical care, education, and other basic necessities of life.

Bodhi Seeds finds sponsors for the children whose Families are unable to send their children to School.

Thus far, Bodhi Seeds has provided resources in the form of supporting one community to set up and operate a medical clinic that serves monastic, women, men, children, and elderly in the surrounding community. It has also supported the monastics’ daily living personal needs including travel stipends for family visits. And, as already mentioned, it has located sponsors for children’s education.

We have had an outbreak of tuberculosis in one of our monasteries. Between 2009-2012, we have seen 20 cases in a population of 300 monks. There is no public health response, other than individual treatment of effected monks and villagers, though treatment is provided by the state.
