Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

Drug-Resistant TB:
The project has a component of DR-TB.
DR-TB continues to threaten the progress made in controlling the disease and becomes an obstacle to effective global TB control. From a microbiological perspective, resistance is caused by a genetic mutation of the pathogen. But from a clinical perspective, DR-TB is attributed to factors related to providers, drugs and patients. DR-TB is, therefore, essentially a man-made problem. We shall do counseling and testing for HIV/Tb and make referral to district hospitals.

TB-HIV:
The project will assess the TB/HIV situation in the Kisii County area with the help of technical experts of the TB and HIV/AIDS program; publish an instruction manual advocating for primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of TB/HIV; organize capacity building workshops between professional and non-professional personnel; and disseminate TB/HIV prevention advocacy messages through radio transmissions, leaflet production and theatrical performances.

Laboratory Strengthening:
Advocate for Community Based Conseling and Testing centres in villages for HIV/TB in Kisii County. Training of CHWs to support the initiative.
