Organization Description: |
The TB Centre brings together over 120 scientists, doctors, epidemiologists, statisticians, public health officers and policy-makers.
The TB Centre provides a focus for the School's long-established global research expertise in tuberculosis epidemiology, immunology, diagnosis and treatment. It will enable the development of enhanced international partnership, building on the success of 70 existing projects collaborating in more than 40 countries including the UK, South Africa, Uganda, Senegal, Malawi, India, Pakistan, China and Peru.
We are actively encouraging those involved in TB research, clinical practice and public health to make contact with the TB Centre to propose new projects and contribute to existing areas of work

The UK lacks a formal NTP - however clinicians working at LSHTM are involved in delivery of TB care in London and contribute to national committees contributing to TB policy for both TB prevention and management. |

Drug-Resistant TB: diagnosis, through MODS and Xpert related studies in Latin America and southern Africa treatment through collaboration with institutions undertaking clinical trials
TB-HIV: multiple large scale trials in southern Africa evaluating active case finding and preventive therapy approaches for targeted risk-groups and at population level
New Diagnostics: phenotypic, genotypic and antigen test development, evaluation and implementation research
New TB Vaccines: immunological and biomarker research as part of large vaccine consortia
Research: Xpert implementation evaluation research in southern Africa TANDEM consortium to evaluate interface between TB and diabetes melllitus |
