Organization Description: |
Hygeia Nigeria Limited Foundation (HNLF) is a member of the Hygeia group of companies, Hygeia Nigeria Limited (HNL). HNLF started out in 2005 as learning center with core competence in providing capacity building for health care profession in reproductive health; comprehensive HIV management and HIV/TB collaborative activities; and malaria treatment. This was informed by the knowledge gap identified in the country in the early years of HIV/AIDS management as well as the need to improve maternal mortality outcome through provision of quality integrated reproductive health services in Nigeria. In March 2007, HNLF through documented successes in providing capacity buildings for the management of HIV/AIDS, to both Hygeia Health Maintenance organization (HHMO) a member of the HNL and other indigenous private organization including public health institutions was selected through competitive bidding to become the first Nigerian indigenous organization to implement comprehensive HIV/AIDS program intervention. This was under the Global Fund Round 5 grant to Fight AIDS, TB and malaria (GF R5 ATM) where as a sub-recipient to National Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, HNLF scope focused on scaling up comprehensive HIV/AIDS interventions in private health facilities across the 37 states of the country including F.C.T. Over the years of implementation, HNLF has continued to provide interventions on HIV/AIDS management through successive grant biding as well as grant consolidations of Round 9 GFATM. This grant consolidation has expanded service provision to additional 25 PHCs to support PMTCT services using the hub and spoke/cluster model in Nigeria. In this capacity Hygeia Foundation has provided trainings, supportive supervision, hands on mentoring and on-site monitoring to health care workers in program interventions. HNLF supports 34 hospital networks across the 37 states of Nigeria including F.C.T. Through this support, as at the end of January 2012 HNLF has enrolled 41,795 PLHIV into care while 29 |
