Organization Description: |
1. Engage communities and community-based care providers improve TB care and control, especially for marginalized and vulnerable populations including TB-HIV patients. 2. The association will generate awareness, educating the community on prevention and treatment of tuberculosis. 3. Playing a major in advocacy and in mobilizing community support. 4. Supporting TB patients and their families through fostering positive attitudes and non discriminatory practices. 5. Involving the community in implementing DOTS (directly observed treatments short course) 6. Providing information to the community about TB an its cure which may serve to help reduces stigma and popularizes treatment with DOTS. 7. Increasing awareness in the community about the facilities provided by the government for TB diagnosis’s and treatment so that these suspects know where to go and what to do. 8. Putting the patients and family at ease by reducing fears and helping them better cope with the illness as well as manage the disease and its treatment. 9. To co-ordinate with district RNTCP units to implement a minimum set of advocacy, communication and social mobilization intervention in a district involving with others partner like Self Help Groups (SHG), community based organization and other NGO 10. ACSM. |

Jaintia Hills district tuberculosis Forum is providing help and information to the patients and the people of jaintia hills about TB and services rendered by the Government. The District TB forum has taken the initiative by addressing the problem of the paatient’s of the absent of the Doctor in Tuberculosis Center to the authority concern. The District TB forum sent a letter to the DTO, DM&HO, Deputy Commissioner and STO and requested for early action. The members of the District Tuberculosis Forum have engaged in the field activities of the programme,by giving awareness and conducting acaommunity Meeting. Defaulter retrieval is the activity that member has started on the months of June and July 2011 which is still going on. Additionally, three suspects have been diagnosed with TB in the month of March and April, 2011. Retrieved three defaulters’ i.e Mr Jameris Shiangshai, Mr Shaniah Talang and Mr Thia Patkma contributing to the control of high default rate in the district with 13 defaulters in the second last of the quater. Lastly we regret for not being to follow-up due to the lack of financial support.
