Organization Description:
Stimulated by social development process, a group of eminent socially committed and qualified people started operating Ganga in 2003. The organization is run by a governing board of 7 members and 11 general body members with proper representation of 2 females and 3 Other Backward Cast members in the governing board. Ganga is a democratic organization committed to upgrade lives of marginalized people of the society. Here president himself represents the other backward community. Majority members of governing Board are qualified upto master degree (MSW) in social work whereas the secretary Dr. Vivek Mishra who is also the Chief Functionary – Ganga, is awarded doctorate (Ph.D.) in the social work by Lucknow University.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
The Ganga organization is running Axshaya Programme in partnership with CBCI-CARD. Axshaya programme aims to identify the village people specially the marginalized people located at minority dominated communities, entrapped into the vicious cycle of tuberculosis disease through Gaon Kalyan Samiti meetings. After the identification the patients are linked with DOTS treatment upto six months to come out of the illness. Ganga organization is organizing Gaon Kalyan Samiti Baithak in each and every village of 3 development blocks of Lucknow district and 3 blocks of Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. During the meetings ASHA/Anganwadi workers are designated as Axshaya Mitra who further helps the patients for DOTS treatment and regular follow up till the treatment is complete and the illness is removed. The organization team liaise with the CHC staff for immediate checkup and putting the patient on DOTS treatment. The team has identified 113 patients from Lucknow and 145 from Sitapur districts.

TB Care Delivery:
The organization is establishing TB friends in the remote locations of villages. It is transporting and collecting the sputum and identifying possible Dot providers for those areas. It is also promoting patients to avail treatment which is free.

Declaration

Declaration of interests:
The organization GANGA is already working in partnership with CBCI CARD for social mobilization and sputum collection and transportation. It has collaborated with the local government and administration effectively. The STOP TB partnership will provide thenetwork of sharing as well as a common platform of the organizations working towards the same issue. No conflict of interests will be constituted (any real, potential or apparent) with respect to the Global Partnership to Stop TB.
