Organization Description: |
Umsimisi Community Project is a nonprofit organization committed to facilitate communal and individual empowerment through participatory approaches. The strength of Umsimisi Community Project is in the use of Theatre for Development (T4D) on information dissemination/community mobilization and education through community dialogues where theatre is used to trigger people’s minds for healthy discussions on the subject at hand. This has however proved to be an effective medium of communication as it accommodates all groups of society to easily identify with issues indiscriminately to the level of literacy/education. The name Umsimisi can be interpreted in different ways; however in line with our concept, it means “an establishment or source of potency/effectiveness", we believe that the quality of information and education given influences character in communal and individual effectiveness in the society.
