Organization Description: |
The mission of Medicines for Humanity (MFH) is to save the most lives possible with each donated dollar. The focus of many of our projects is on maternal and child health and child survival. It is here that we have encountered and responded to TB cases. Our experience is in developing partnerships with in-country healthcare providers who are implementing partners andcommitted to serving the most vulnerable. We collaborate with our partners in project plan, monitoring and evaluation, troubleshooting and providing technical assistance. We are working with our local partner in Nairobi, Kenya, with whom we currently have a community based healthcare project targeted to HIV positive orphans. We are attempting to expand this project to also prevent TB where possible, and to identify and treat it where we we find TB cases in the slums around Nairobi. We will do this with a combination of capacity building, creating a community health worker network focused on TB as well as HIV AIDS, and by creating some innovative mobile diagnostic teams (MDTs). |
