| The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) is an indigenous organization at the forefront of the battle against HIV/AIDS . TASO was founded in 1987 by a group of 16 volunteers and its mission is “To contribute to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease”. TASO carries out the following activities; • HIV/AIDS education to prevent further spread of the virus • Counseling people living with HIV/AIDS and their families • Medical treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS • Social support to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on families through supporting orphans and vulnerable children. • Training individuals, communities, CBOs and other organizations to build their capacity in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support • Advocacy and Networking to promote and protect the rights of PLHIV .We are interested in recieving upadtes in the management of TB which common with HIV .To participate in the advocacy of TB Elimination TASO screens and treats all clients(10,000)annually in its care for TB infection .We carry out grass root campaigns aganist TB in Partnership with ministry of Health .To share TASO experience in TB Managment with other service providers,program designers and policy makers .We need to capacity our staff with updated information |

TB Care Delivery: TASO carries out advocacy for TB Elimination and availability of drugs at national and community levels in uganda TASO Monitors patients administration of drugs given to patients at their homes TASO participates in TB policy reviews with the ministry of health in uganda TASO Distributes IEC materials in the community and carries out TB campaigns in the community TB-HIV: TASO screens and shall continue to screen all PLHIV clients in her care for TB and offers treatment to all those found positive TASO Provides ARVs to all PLHIV found to be having TB TASO Monitors all PLHIV Clients on TB treatment at thier homes,and hospitals It documents all cases for TB and shares the data with Ministry of Health Laboratory Strengthening: TASO works with public heath care centres to strenggthen thier laboratories to be able to screen for TB infection among health care service attendees in the community( Health systems strengthening) New Diagnostics: TASO rolled out the new TB diagnostics in all its service centres and refreshes all the staff Research: TASO is involved in TB operation research with support from WHO |
