The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) is an indigenous organization at the forefront of the battle against HIV/AIDS . TASO was founded in 1987 by a group of 16 volunteers and its mission is “To contribute to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease”. TASO carries out the following activities;
• HIV/AIDS education to prevent further spread of the virus • Counseling people living with HIV/AIDS and their families • Medical treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS • Social support to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on families through supporting orphans and vulnerable children. • Training individuals, communities, CBOs and other organizations to build their capacity in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support • Advocacy and Networking to promote and protect the rights of PLHIV .We are interested in recieving upadtes in the management of TB which common with HIV .To participate in the advocacy of TB Elimination TASO screens and treats all clients(10,000)annually in its care for TB infection .We carry out grass root campaigns aganist TB in Partnership with ministry of Health .To share TASO experience in TB Managment with other service providers,program designers and policy makers .We need to capacity our staff with updated information |
