Indus Development Foundation (IDF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered under society’s act 1860. It is a pool of professionals, researchers and implementers who believes in sustainability in development for all spheres of life. IDF wishes to turn out new methods for sustainable livelihoods for the poor and indigenous; regenerating the environment. IDF is committed with the concept of sustainable development - living within the limits of the natural environment with sustainable development without compromising on the needs of future generations.
IDF aimed to develop such mechanisms and institutional systems, which are needed to achieve equitable social and environmentally sound developments. IDF will continue to coordinate with government, policy-makers, conduct research, influence policy makers and; work with business and industry to address global threats to the planet by seeking long-term solutions.
In Pakistan, more than half of the rural population is unemployed, underemployed or informally employed and on top of it they are not aware for their rights and basic needs of life. They need to provide them with economic security and with the products and services required to satisfy their basic needs. At the same time, the industries that create these jobs and appliances must reduce the wasteful use of energy, water, forests and other natural resources. IDF emphasizes on building local capacities to meet the development challenges of the next era. Its belief is to help communities in search of sustainable solutions for their issues.
