Organization Description:
The Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance (WPCA) is a global action network focusing exclusively on hospice and palliative care development worldwide. Its members are national and regional hospice and palliative care organisations and affiliate organisations supporting hospice and palliative care.

Our vision is a world with universal access to hospice and palliative care.

Our mission is to foster, promote and influence the delivery of affordable, quality palliative care.

We operate through work groups based in different national hospice and palliative care organisations around the world.

We are interested in improving palliative care for people living with TB to help them recover and for those that will not survive to help their quality of life and comfort.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

Drug-Resistant TB:
We published a Declaration on Palliative Care and MDR/XDR-TB in the IJTLH in 2012 and an article in Lancet ID. We are continuing to work to provide education on palliative care for DR-TB workers. We participated in a Salzburg training seminar in Austria Feb 26th - March 3rd 2012 where TB experts from former Soviet Republics received training in palliative care. In October of 2012 we held two satellite symposia on palliative care for DR-TB at the UNION World Lung Health Conference. On October 31st we are scheduled to do three presentations at an all day post graduate course at the Union Conference in Paris.
