Organization Description:
Oten Ita foundation was founded in 1993 registered with state and local government area in 2004 and was incorporated in 2009 with cooperate Affairs commission Abuja Nigeria with registration number CAC/IT/NO 3122. This foundation was born out of an uncontrollable passion for less privileged women and children in both rural and urban communities, to see how this marginalized people can be socio- economically empowered and given a platform were they can participate in the socio- economic development and effective participation in the democratic process in Nigeria and beyond. Oten Ita foundation was passionately founded by Hon. Justice and Elder Mrs. Eyo E.Ita. The foundation as grown up to become an institution for social and economic change. The organisation is made up of the Board of Trustee, the project team and the Annual congress. We have 10 full time Staff, 30 volunteers and two on internship.

OBJECTIVES
(1) To build the capacities and develop the skills of underprivileged women, caregivers, orphans and vulnerable children.
(2) To facilitate, mobilize and promote community involvement and other stakeholders in the care, support and empowerment of underprivileged women, orphans and vulnerable children.
(3) To provide primary healthcare, information, orphans, vulnerable children and their caregivers.
(4) To facilitate sustainable livelihood alternatives at the grassroots through micro-credit, enterprise development and mentoring.
(5) To network and collaborate with other organizations on sustainable development issues.

RATIONAL FOR TB PROGRAMME
Nigeria has the world’s fourth largest tuberculosis (TB) burden, with more than 460,000 estimated new cases in 2007. According to the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) 2009 report on global TB control, 42 percent of the new TB cases in 2007 were sputum smear-positive (SS+). The overall goal of this project is to contribute to Nigeria’s achievement of Millennium Development Goal number 6.

The purpose is to improve coverage of effective TB and AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support information and services reaching the most vulnerable populations (women, men, boys and girls

Our organisation focuses on reducing the spread of the TB and mitigating the impact of TB/AIDs on the lives of the key target populations and vulnerable groups in the rural communities of Nigeria through massive awareness campaign, TB test, counseling and treatment, so far more than 1500 TB patience as being reached

Strengthened stewardship and coordination of the roles of the Local Government, CBO, FBOs, for an effective, multi-sectoral and evidence-based TB response in the rural communities of Nigeria.

Improved and increased institutional and resource capacity of Civil Society Organizations, engaged in TB prevention and treatment

TB-HIV:
conduct VCT to patience tested with TB-HIV, and provide test kids for HIV/TB testing to Hospital

Laboratory Strengthening:
conducted capacity building for CSO, FBO on laboratory strengthening and provide institutional support support to clinic and hospital

New TB Drugs:
provided new TB drugs to hospitals
