Organization Description:
Society of Social Networking for Education, Health & Agriculture (SNEHA) visualize an equity & equality based gender just socially transformed self- reliant society. Positive Change, Self-reliance, Human Dignity, Participatory based Development, Gender Equity and Justice are some of the core values of the organization.

Society of Social Networking for Education, Health & Agriculture has been working for the poor, the needy and the vulnerable section of the society since inception. With the aim of bringing about a social change, SNEHA has grappled and addressed the socio- economic, political and cultural problems of the resource poor and dalits in the operational area. In the process, we have, to a certain degree managed to mobilize people to unite, form groups, and build pressure for the required social changes.

Our major Program Areas for working are -

1. Community Empowerment Programme (Education, Health, Child Development and Child Right, Panchyatraj, Vocational Training, Youth Development,Income Generation & Micro Credit)
2. Food Security Programme (Natural Resource Management, Renewable energy, Sustainable Primary and Allied Agriculture)
3. Technical Know How Extension Programme (Knowledge Culture, Research and Studies, Capacity Building Services).
4. Voice Raising Programme (People centric Networking and Advocacy)
5. Prevention of cross border trafficking in women and children
6. Global Warming and Environmental Conservation

At present SNEHA is working in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and West Bengal states with help of various partners.
SNEHA believe that TB is a public health problem and there is need of civil society initiative in collaboration of ongoing efforts from Govt. to control TB in India.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
Society of Social Networking for Education, Health and Agriculture (SNEHA), is working with CBCI-CARD as partner organization in Gonda district under project AXSHYA and in Maharajganj and Deoria it is working in close association with respective DTC’s. As partner organization it is supporting CBCI-CARD in implementation of various activities related to project AXSHYA.
Major interventions/activities taken by SNEHA as part of TB care and control are:
a. Sensitization meeting of VHSC, SHGs , CBOs and other groups on TB in Gonda , Maharajganj and Deoria districts.

b. Celebration of special events like World TB day, International Women’s day etc. for mass awareness on TB.

c. Tracing initial defaulters and defaulters retrieval in association with RNTCP

d. Awareness generation through IEC: SNEHA is in process of printing pamphlet on TB. Matter to be printed on pamphlet has been finalized in consultation with DTO and will be available by the end of this month. SNEHA is also using wall writing as a tool for awareness generation on TB in the community.

e. Advocacy: SNEHA has developed a group of civil society organizations, other like minded people in Deoria and Maharajganj, which will work for the rights of the TB patients in respective districts.

f. Helpline No.: SNEHA has initiated a Helpline no. on TB. In first phase it will be implemented in Deoria, Maharajganj and Gonda districts. Based on feedback and response to the initiative it will be implemented in rest of districts of Eastern U.P.in phased manner. A trained staff (having experience of working with RNTCP) will respond the quarries of the people related to stigma and discrimination, myths and misconceptions and services and facilities available in RNTCP. This helpline will be operational by the end of this month.

g. Operational Research : Capacity Building and Technical Support Unit of SNEHA is planning to undertake a operational Research on TB. Possible areas identified for operational research will be shared with Public Health Experts on TB and based on their suggestion it will be carried out.

TB Care Delivery:

Drug-Resistant TB:
SNEHA is focusing of minimizing MDR TB by advocating with various stake holders and is also working for DOTs Plus initiative by Revised National TB Control Program( RNTCP)

TB-HIV:
SNEHA is working with various stakeholders on cross referrals and advocating with TB and HIV govt. staffs for the same.

Research:
