History The Association of People with AIDS in Kenya (TAPWAK) is a charitable organization founded in July 1990 to address the health problems of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV), and to provide a forum for them to share experiences and give each other support and encouragement. The organization was registered under the NGOs Coordination Act in September 1993 and formally launched in Nairobi on 1st December 1992. Branch offices were opened in Siaya District at Ugunja in 1998.
Our Vision A Kenyan society where there are no new HIV/AIDS infections and where those infected or affected lead quality lives without discrimination or stigmatization.
Our Mission Statement: TAPWAK exists to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Kenya and to mitigate its impact through effective education and advocacy as well as provision of emotional, social, economic and medical support to the infected and affected.
