National Stop TB Partnership |
Organization Description: |
NGO TB Consortium India(NTC) is a group initiative of 12 significant civil society organisations. The members of NGO Consortium India work with people affected by diseases associated with poverty like Tuberculosis, HIV, Leprosy and vector borne diseases like malaria, Kala-Azar and Dengue and conditions like disabilities etc. Some of us address malnutrition in a major way. The members of NGO Consortium also work with communities empowering them to address social and health issues related to poverty and stigma due to diseases and disabilities. The organisations have experience of partnering with international civil society organisations and majority of them have overseas principal partners. Together, as members of the NGO TB Consortium, work towards “A Healthy India without TB” /with universal health coverage”.

World Vision India, being the current Convenor of NTC is also one of three Principal Recepients for Global Fund Round 9 -TB. The Consortium's area of operation covers a population of 222 million, in 74 districts in 7 states. The program is implemented through 6 of its 12 partners,namely LEPRA, ADRA,SHIS,GLRA,CARE and TB Alert,with monitoring and supervision by World Vision India.Apart from this,some of the partner organisations are involved in TB programs in different ways. For example, PATH provides ACSM expertise country-wide, Damien Foundation India Trust operates in the difficult state of Bihar, through non- GF funds. The Maharashtra Association of Anthropological Sciences offers research back-up for the Consortium, All the above are members of NTC. Various members sit on various committees of the NTP (RNTCP). The Convenor of NTC is also on the Steering Committee of National Partnership and currently in the Core Group that is working on the National Strategic Plan for India - 2012-2017.Almost all partners in the periodic Joint Monitoring Missions of the Government of India. |

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: Each partner of the NTC, according to its own strength and presence works in alignment with NTP-RNTCP policies. The NTC has been actively engaged in many consultative processes that the Ministry of Health in India has sought for and is also involved in the National Strategic Planning for 2012-2017.
Drug-Resistant TB: All organisations involved in GFR9 are implementing activities related to this component. Even in this area, we are actively engaged in various consultative processes that the Ministry of Health in India has sought for and is also involved in the National Strategic Planning for 2012-2017.
TB-HIV: All organisations involved in GFR9 are implementing activities related to this component.Even in this area, we are actively engaged in various consultative processes that the Ministry of Health in India has sought for and is also involved in the National Strategic Planning for 2012-2017.
Laboratory Strengthening: Two of our organisations, LEPRA and DFIT are involved in supporting the Ministry in this.
New Diagnostics: Our partner, PATH is involved in this.
Research: Our partner, Maharashtra Association of Anthropological Sciences carries out operational research, pertaining to TB, both in GFR9 context and in other TB programs. |
