Organization Description:
Established in The Gambia in 1947, the MRC is the UK ’s single largest investment in medical research in a developing country. The Unit’s research focuses on infectious diseases of immediate concern to The Gambia and the continent of Africa, with the aim of reducing the burden of illness and death in the country and the developing world as a whole.
Tuberculosis represents an area of longstanding research in the Gambia with both community as well as laboratory research, headed by the Themeleader in Vaccinology, A/Profressor Beate Kampmann.

We hold several grants in collaboration with the NLTP of the Gambia, incl Global Fund and TB Reach. We work in an integarted fashion and provide laboratory support in both trainign and diagnostics, incl. DST to the NLTP.
