Organization Description:
Project Concern International (PCI) is an international NGO. From 2006 to the present, PCI has implemented the SOLUCION TB (Strengthening Observed therapy Linking-Up Community-based Integrated Outreach Networks for TB control in Mexico). The initiative is present in 5 states in Mexico and includes now collaborative work to address TB and its main two co-morbidities: HIV/AIDS and Diabetes. The program continues to include a strong Advocacy, Communication and Social mobilization component and systems strengthenning/capacity building strategies. These include but are not limited to: Photovoice methodologies, greater participation of people affected, Nuetsra Casa (Our House a TB Touring Exhibition), support groups and others. The interventions use a a person-centered approach and are implemented within the infrastructure of the Mexican Ministry of Health, state TB programs and local health jurisdictions. PCI wants to share the ACMS strategies and lessons learned with other peers and cross-pollinate practices and strategies to increase awareness, mobilize communities and empower persons affected by TB.

We work closely in collaboration with the NTP. We share the lessons learned from the implementation of our TB and TB-co-morbidities programs. We helped identify existing knowledge, attitudes and practices through a KAP Study conducted in 2009-2010. We provide TA to NTP as needed.

TB Care Delivery:
DOTS (empowering DOTS) and training continue to be a focus of our program in Mexico. ACSM is a strong component of the model/design.

TB-HIV:
Our current work in Mexico emphasizes TB-HIV collaboration, testing, diagnosis, referrals and utilization of IPT.
