Organization Description: |
MEERA is a Charitable Trust, working for HIV Prevention and TB Control for past 5 years in Dindigul District with collaboration of District TB Society.
Controlling TB in India is a tremendous challenge. The TB burden in India is still staggering. Every year, 1.8 million persons develop the disease, of which about 800,000 are infectious; and, until recently, 370,000 died of it annually —1,000 every day. The disease is a major barrier to social and economic development.
Presently we do outreach education to the community, referrals for counseling and testing, testing follow up, DOTS follow up, HIV-TB linkages, collaborate with District TB Society and NGOs in District. We planned to do Social Mobilisation through Advocacy and Communication and Treatment Adherence to the patients.
