REACH Resource group for Education and Advocacy for Community Health is an organisation working in Chennai, Tamilnadu , India to create awareness of critical community health issues REACH was set up as a registered society in 1999 to function within the framework of the following objectives: • To combat the threat of TB with an activist, hands-on approach involving all sections of the community • To ensure that the guidelines provided by the Revised National TB Control Program of the Government of India (RNTCP) is made accessible to private medical practitioners who are the primary care providers for a large section of the population. • To increase public awareness of TB.
• To act as a liaising body between the deliverers of health care (both governmental and non-governmental) and the recipients of healthcare and function as an information bureau for the public-- on all aspects of TB control
REACH works with the technical support of the Tuberculosis Research Centre, a pioneering research institution of the ICMR, which has played a pivotal role in evolving the intermittent short course chemotherapy and domiciliary treatment for TB. Other active partners which REACH brought into this network are the Chennai Corporation , the local health authority and the State TB Society which are responsible for the implementation of the RNTCP in Chennai and Tamilnadu.

REACH has been in close coordination with National /State TB control program and the projects undertaken by the Organization have been aimed to fill the gaps identified. Activities such as ACSM, annual media awards, PPM and media training on TB for journalists are all centred to contributing to the TB control program |
