The Good Neighbour Inc. is a transnational, non-governmental, non-profit making organization. TGN is a health based organization that implements community interventions among most at risk populations. The community interventions are in public health and related issues including sexual and reproductive health and Human Immuno-deficiency Virus & Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS). TGN began operations in Nigeria in September 2000 having been registered and operating in Monrovia, Liberia since Nov.1998. TGN is registered in Nigeria with Corporate Affairs commission Abuja. MISSION Our mission is to sensitise, inform and educate the most at risk populations on public health and related issues including sexual and reproductive health in order to enable them make informed decision concerning their wellbeing.
VISION To help build a society that is sensitized to public health issues including sexual and reproductive health in order to improve their wellbeing.
Objectives ? To disseminate quality and comprehensive information in the sexual and reproductive health and public health field thus orientating the public towards making optimum life saving decisions. ? To mobilise communities through public health interventions on Tuberculosis and Malaria to ensure disease free communities. ? To enlighten the most at risk populations in the sexual and reproductive health and public health issues to effect behaviour change. These objectives explains our interest in contributing to a world free of tuberculosis. Our focus areas in tuberculosis programme are Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation (ACSM), TB/HIV Collaborative Activities and Community TB care. We do submitt report of our community interventions to NTBLCP Abuja. We share information on TB issues and participate in national programmes. The CEO was a member of the international and national task force constituted in 2006 that facilitated the establishment of Nigeria Stop TB Partnership. The CEO also participates in the development of Nigeria Global Funds proposal for TB. |

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: Our focus areas in tuberculosis programme are Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation (ACSM)and Community TB care. TGN is presently involved in the training of community volunteers and treatment supporters in community TB care for early and increased TB case detection in the implementation of Global Funds round 9 for Nigeria. TGN had conducted ACSM sensitisation on the 29th April 2009, fifteen of the participating organisations were given WHO CDs containing twenty –two documents/books on TB programme and materials on ACSM and community TB care to enable them commence community activities on TB. In March 2009, TGN commemorated world TB day with a rally in Oworonsoki; sensitizing the community on the availability of the DOTS center in Oworonsoki Primary Health Care center. The2008 world TB day was commemorated by printing and distribution of a poster in collaboration with Stop TB Partnership Geneva. Also there was a community mobilisation rally on TB infection control and a seminar on TB prevention by the community TB model used in the poster. These activities were held at Araromi Sawmill community in Gbagada, Kosofe LGA. The CEO is a core group member of ACSM Sub working group country level of DOTS Expansion working group 2008 - 2012. TGN is a founding member of Nigeria Stop Partnership that was launched in April 2009 at Abuja.
TB-HIV: Trained by WHO HQ Stop TB department on TB/HIV for Consultants, Sondalo, Italy 2006.The Good Neighbour conducted sensitization training for 30 civil society organisations on TB/HIV Collaborative activities and integrating TB activities into already existing HIV/AIDS programme,the training was held in Surulere LGA. This activity has been periodically continuous since September 2006. |

I have no conflict of interest.I have been involved in charity work for over ten years. I practice social work and have understood the principles of charity work. My desire is to see a world free from tuberculosis, hoping that the global plan of 2015 will be achieved.
