I myself being a pulmonologist from Armed forces medical college, Pune and Ex GM, ONGC is well acquainted with the disease and the prognosis .The disease is quite rampant in India and especially with the spurt of MDR, requires active role from the organizations like this. I have a chest hospital and see almost 50 cases of tuberculosis in my hospital in a day. This place is a big town and cater to the needs of nearly 1 million population. |

Although, we have the intentions to do the complete TB control care, our resources are limited.We, being a part of south India, which is a developing country, TB is rampant in these areas.There is no outside funding and we manage with our minimal income through consultation charges. We cordinate with the govt DOTS programme , apart from our own day to day TB care. |

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: About 5 of us,have grouped together and made it a point to visit atleat one nearby village to enlighten about the spread of TB and what to do if a disease is noticed.
Drug-Resistant TB: We keep abreast of the recent developments, send samples for PCR and modify the treatment accordingly.
TB-HIV: Our treatment is 12 months minimum and should see the sideffects when associated with antiretroviral drugs.
Laboratory Strengthening: We have quick accessibility with the nearby advanced diagnostic centres, apart from the minimum investigations with us.
Fundamental Research: Oflate, we are concentrating more on extra pulmonary spread of TB |

Interst is to see that the disease prevalence should be reduced to as minimum as possible, and as early as possible before the drug resistance dominates the scenario.
