Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
For more than 10 years, DOTS has been fully implemented in Belgrade. We are fully complied with NTP of Serbia which is in accordance with Stop TB Strategy.

Our microbiologocal laboratory performs microscopy, culturing and DST under control of NRL and SNRL.

Computerized patients data base has been functional for almost 15 years and new variables have been introducen on geular basis and in accordance with the internation recommendations. Data are analyzed on regular basis and actions in response to them are taken.
AS for political commitment and drug supplies, those issues are in charge of and solved at the national level.

Drug-Resistant TB:
For MDR-TB patients DOT cabinet provides treatment with supervision and patient support.

TB-HIV:
For HIV+ TB patients, ambulantory phase of their treatment is performed in our Institute and in collaboration with the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of Clinical Center of Serbia.

Laboratory Strengthening:
Our micobacteriological lab performs microscopy, culturing and DST for the first-line drugs. Culturing is done only on solid media and introduction of liquid media is expected. Regular external controls are done by NRL and SNRL (Borstel, Gemany). Our lab use specially designed softwear which will in the near future enable automatic comparison of patients (from patients data base) and their laboratory results.
