Organization Description:
The Faculty of Health Sciences of Stellenbosch University trains pre- and post-graduate medical and allied medical professional students, is involved with service delivery at the Tygerberg Academic Hospital and satellite medical facilities and performs research in the fields of medical sciences. Stellenbosch University is recognized as one of the four top research universities in South Africa. It takes pride in the fact that it has one of the country’s highest proportions of postgraduate students of which almost ten percent are international students.

New Diagnostics:
Research groups within the university are actively participating in diagnostic biomarker studies and aim to develop point of care tests for TB in adults and children.

New TB Drugs:
We have a strong focus on research into biomarkers for TB treatment response, including early treatment effect and relapse-free cure.

New TB Vaccines:
We are involved in immunogenicity studies of new TB vaccines.
