Organization Description:
The Center for Health Policies and Services (CHPS) is a Romanian legal entity, an independent foundation, non-profit, non-politically involved, established in 1999. Over the last years, CHPS continuously promoted the development of a patient centered health care system in Romania, focused on the public health priority areas, like fighting HIV, TB and promoting a healty life style. CHPS encourages and supports the social dialog, the community participation and the implication of the civil society into the decision making process. The main funding sources are represented by grants and competitively acquired projects. Presently, CHPS is a sub-recipient of the TB Control Program funded by GFATM, working in the areas of ACSM,BCC campaigns, PPM, OR.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
- Working directly with the national stakeholders and NTP for raising awareness with regards to the threats that TB (especially MDR and XDR TB) poses
- Through the GF projects implemented strating 2007 and other complementary projects such as community based activities (incl setting up a community based DOTs centers located in the heart of voulnerable communities)
- Providing TA as and when requested and teaming up with other organizations such as WHO on the matter of TB challenges and possible solutions

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Some ACSM and BCC related activieteis carried out via 3 projects during 2007-2012 will be included in other projects (replication, continuation, further development). Special attention will be given to working directly with communities – i.e.: developing services that are accessible, including DOTs community based centers and councelling centers (integrated services tailored to address TB and its associated diseases)

Drug-Resistant TB:
Through the strong partnership that CHPS has with NTP, TA will continue, incl the participation in working groups at national and local level as and when requested

Research:
It is envisaged to continue to disemminate the results of the FG project OR implemented by us between 2007-2012; in addition, if new funding identified, some of the activities will be carried on and developed further.
