Organization Description:
Nepal Anti Tuberculosis Association (NATA) is a non governmental and non profit making social voluntary organization established in 1953 A.D with a view to help people affected by tuberculosis and lung diseases ultimately aiming to the quality of life and wellbeing of all. From the time before Nepal government national TB program was set up, NATA has been profoundly involved in various TB control activities ensuring quality services. It is affiliated with International Union Agnaist Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD) and is a member of its SEAR. Also as one of the Sub Receipients (SRs) of GFATM, NATA represents in the Country Coordination Mechnism (CCM) as well. NATA primarily focuses on policy advocacy, awareness and social mobilization activities.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
NATA is supporting National TB Programme (NTP) in different preventive, promotive and curative services. With the longstanding history in TB control activities, NATA has successfully established 38 district branches and contributing throughout reaching up to the grassroot level involving policy makers, civil societies, media, communities, etc. Importantly, its contribution in Drug Resistant (DR) TB management is crucial and has prominent role in national level research and DR surveillance. German Nepal Tuberculosis Project (GENET UP) under NATA is functioning as a National Reference Laboratory for culture and Drug Sensitivity Test (DST). Besides, it runs the only one chest hospital in the country with support from Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal.

TB Care Delivery:
NATA has been providing and ensuring DOTS services through its district branches and volunteers

Drug-Resistant TB:
NATA/GENETUP is functioning as National Reference Laboratory for DST and Culture facilities. NATA is also running DR Management services. Similarly, NATA is running DR Hostels.

TB-HIV:
NATA is running VCT center and performing PITC as a part of TB-HIV activities

Laboratory Strengthening:
NATA is providing quality laboratory services along with lab related training such as culture and DST

Fundamental Research:
NATA has been conducting various studies under ACSM and surveillance particularly in DR TB

Research:
NATA conducts various operational researhes including clinical trials
