Organization Description: |
1. To improve the quality of life of all Bangladeshis’ by providing superior, client friendly and affordable health care services in a sustainable manner.
Community is the center of all our activities and is of prime importance. All the primary stakeholders are derived from community (Children, adolescent & youth, eligible couple, women of reproductive age group, pregnant mothers, floating people, poor & ultra-poor, special segment of people). Most of the activities are designed to enhance the awareness of health, hygiene and nutrition seeking behavior of the people to ensure uptake & utilization of services from different, GO-NGO service delivery points. For this, we form different body/groups (LOI, Religious Group, Community Support Group, Nutrition Club, Mothers’ Support Group, Youth & Adolescent Club), orient and capacitate them to play role as advocates and linking the community with different service centers to contribute and leverage in the sustainability of the activities. We distribute different materials (Brochures, leaflets, Panaflex, Flip Chart) to keep practices continued.

Despite being a preventable and curable disease, TB is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide and the leading cause of death from a single agent. The End TB strategy by 2035, National TB Control Program (NTP), Bangladesh is working hard for case finding and treatment outcomes under DOTs through the GO-NGO collaborating approach. Bangladesh Government and BRAC are the principal recipients of ‘The Global Fund’ (TGF) for implementing the TB Control Program countrywide. We the PKS (Paribar Kallyan Samity) are the partner of BRAC. As the NTP is following WHO-recommended policy, PKS is working to achieve four national objectives and thereby achieve the targets of the UNHLM (United Nations High-Level Meeting) and the END TB strategy.
Our achievements during the last three quarters: Area of implementation: Khulna City Corporation Total Ward 31 PKS implementing areas: 20 Wards Catchment population of 20 Wards: 408,535 Case finding of Tuberculosis (2019-2023)

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: PKS has been providing direct clinical service delivery to case detection, refer the patients to GOB and BRAC diagnostic centers and conducts DOT. The organization also conducts follow-up Microscopy at its own microscopic centers, conducts community level awareness raising program, sputum campaign, management of side effects of TB Drug's & Comorbidity. We refer the critical patients to secondary, tertiary and specialized institutions. Community is the center of all our activities and is of prime importance. Drug-Resistant TB: PKS conducts DOTS PlUS for MDR-TB patients.
TB-HIV: PKS conducts HIV screening for all diagnosed TB cases and if identified as having coexisting HIV refer the patients to ART centers of GOB tertiary hospitals (Medical College Hospital) |
