Organization Description: |
1. Mission and Main Focus of Work of Our Organization
The Foundation for Development of Children (FDC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children in Zambia. Our mission is: "To empower children, families, and communities to reach their full potential through sustainable health, education, and economic development initiatives." Our main focus is on addressing the holistic needs of children, with a strong emphasis on health, education, and economic empowerment.
2. Why We Are Interested in Tuberculosis
FDC is deeply concerned about the impact of tuberculosis (TB) on children and their families in Zambia. As an organization working in an area with high TB prevalence, we have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of TB on families and communities. TB affects not only the health but also the economic well-being of families, particularly those with children. When guardians of children contract TB, it can lead to reduced income, increased poverty, and decreased access to education and healthcare for the children. Therefore, addressing TB is crucial to our mission of empowering children, families, and communities.
3. What We Are Doing or Planning to Do for TB Control
FDC is committed to contributing to the national efforts to control TB in Zambia. Our strategies include: 1. Community sensitization and awareness: We plan to conduct community outreach programs to raise awareness about TB, its symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. 2. Supporting TB prevention and treatment: We aim to collaborate with local health facilities to support TB prevention and treatment efforts, including providing incentives for TB patients to adhere to treatment. 3. Economic empowerment for TB-affected families: We plan to implement economic empowerment programs for families affected by TB, including vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and microfinance initiatives. 4. Advocacy and partnership: We will engage in advocacy efforts to ra |
