Contribution |
Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB Care Delivery: Communication for Development Initiatives (CDI) plans to play a significant role in advancing the objectives of the Global Plan to Stop TB by focusing on advocacy, communication, and social mobilization. These efforts will be designed to enhance awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage community participation in TB care and prevention, particularly in Malawi.
As part of its advocacy efforts, CDI aims to engage policymakers, healthcare providers, and donor agencies to prioritize TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in national and regional health agendas. The organization plans to advocate for increased funding, improved healthcare infrastructure, and the integration of TB services into existing health programs. These advocacy activities will be launched in 2025, with the goal of influencing policy frameworks and resource allocation by 2027.
CDI intends to implement strategic communication initiatives to raise awareness about TB and promote behavior change. Planned activities include the development of culturally appropriate communication materials for use across radio, print, and social media platforms. These materials will address myths and stigma surrounding TB while promoting the importance of early diagnosis and treatment adherence. Nationwide communication campaigns are scheduled to commence in early 2025, with a phased rollout targeting high-burden districts in subsequent years.
In terms of social mobilization, CDI plans to engage communities through dialogue sessions, leveraging local leaders, faith-based organizations, and schools to disseminate information about TB prevention and care. The organization also intends to train community health workers and local organizations in communication strategies to enhance their capacity to engage communities effectively. These initiatives will be piloted in selected districts in 2025 and scaled up to a national level by 2027, with the potential for regional knowledge-sharing by 2028.
Through these planned activities, CDI seeks to align with the Global Plan to Stop TB by strengthening community participation, fostering partnerships, and addressing barriers to TB care. These efforts aim to contribute to the global goal of ending TB as a public health threat by 2030. |
