Organization Description: |
1a) Mission: To bolster initiatives and build the capacity of communities in the districts to fight HIV, AIDS and NCDs and the negative impacts on individuals, households and society at large.
1b) Main Focus of Work of Bekezela HBC is Advocacy and Community engagements which is done in all its programs. Under this pillar the organization educates communities about health issues including, T.B, HIV/AIDS and SRHR. This has been done to promote healthy behaviors and preventive measures through workshops, local media and mobile outreach campaigns. The organization also advocates for quality health service provision and access. Bekezela also focuses Women's Economic Empowerment and Care. In this line of work the organization advocates for recognition and valuing of Unpaid Care Work as an economic, social and a gender inequality issue. it also ensures that the initiative is community lead, rights focused and that women and girls benefit from gender equality and equity.
2. Interested in Tuberculosis: One of the main reasons why Bekezela HBC is interested in Tuberculosis is to continue our work on TB and mobilize resources to contribute meaningfully to the partnership as the organization implemented the Global Fund TB in the Mining Sector (TIMS) programme in 2017 under Interactive Research Development, South Africa (IRD, South Africa) and 2019-2020 under ACHAP, Botswana. Also, because organization has supported like minded organizations such as Jointed Hands Welfare Organization in community mobilization and monitoring of community volunteers during the Stop TB Partnership's One Impact digital tool initiative in Bubi district, Zimbabwe. The organization is interested because it is one of the organization's mandate to advocate, support and push the TB care and control agenda. Another reason why the organization is interested is because Bubi the area we work in, is a mining community as such these communities have high rates of HIV which increases the risk of TB co-infection, as TB is a leading cause in d |
