Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
We have a mobile medical unit consists of medical technician team and healthcare truck to provide for out-of-reach cluster, now focusing on chest-X-ray and TB screening. In addition, we are sourcing for POCT device that could expand our scope of services that can be provided to the community in need.

Laboratory Strengthening:
Our team went to the "Tuberculosis Center 12" in Yala, one of the southest provinces of Thailand, from 19th Feb to 23rd Feb and introduce the new TB/NTM detection kit with real-time PCR machine, and along with them the automated DNA extraction machine and all consumables involved in the process, another mission was to provide them with tables, chairs, and consumables required for the work to run smoothly for both of us. All of these are necessary for the procedures in performing the test for the detection of TB/NTM. After that, from 7th March to the beginning of May there are an ongoing process of TB/NTM screening.

New Diagnostics:
Our team went to the "Tuberculosis Center 12" in Yala from 22nd April to 4th May to help valiadating the results of patients with tuberculosis, and Since the sensitivity of the real-time pcr TB-MDR detection kit we used is higher than the LPA that employed by this center. Moreover, the genes that our kit can detect are more than that of LPA as well. The total amount of tests performed was 288 of TB-MDR detection kits with patients' samples, which solved some of the LPA's results (done by the employees of the center) that had ambiguous band appearance.

Research:
Towards the end of May, we have a plan to conduct a research about comparing the performance of the new TB-MDR detection with real-time PCR kit with the LPA method employed by Central Chest Institute in Thailand on Thai population. The medical practioner overseeing the project would be the doctor who is working at the institute.
