Organization Description: |
Dedicated to mitigating human suffering during emergencies and disasters, Danwadaag Relief Alliance focuses on providing comprehensive relief assistance to the most vulnerable groups in the southern and central regions of Somalia. Our mission is to enhance overall well-being by prioritizing health delivery, nutrition support, livelihood initiatives, and women and gender empowerment. Additionally, we are committed to raising awareness about tuberculosis, striving to create a holistic and sustainable impact for the communities we serve. Three decades of civil war and instability, coupled with continual humanitarian crises such as drought and floods, have weakened Somalia’s health system and contributed to some of the poorest health indicators in the world, including very low coverage of essential health services, lack of access to hygiene and sanitation, malnutrition, high burdens of communicable and non-communicable diseases, high infant and maternal mortality and very low life expectancy.
Tuberculosis poses a significant public health challenge in Somalia, warranting urgent attention. In response to this pressing issue, Danwadaag Relief Alliance has undertaken a proactive approach by implementing an outreach awareness program in the Lower Juba region of Somalia. This initiative aims to address the critical need for increased awareness, early detection, and prevention of tuberculosis within the community.
